Houston Vacation: Our Arrival and Welcome Party (10/15/10 - 10/17/10)

We arrived at Mike and Jodi’s house at 4:30pm on Friday and were greeted by this lovely sign:

The adorable girls that live next door helped make it and came over right away to meet Lily. Lily had a lot of fun playing with Grace (left) and Jodee (right):

We got settled in and had a nice visit. Paul stayed up late chatting with Mike but I crashed pretty early with exhaustion from our long drive.
We spent most of Saturday relaxing and catching up. We went to the Cy-Ridge football game on Saturday night in what is apparently their “small” stadium. All I know is that it puts all of Michigan high school football stadiums I’ve ever seen to shame. We got to watch Maegan perform with the Dazzlers dance team at halftime. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring our camera. The game was fairly late at night and considering the time change, took us well past Lily’s bedtime. She was great for the first half but got really fussy after halftime so she and I spent the second half of the game wandering around trying to keep her happy.
On Sunday, Mike and Jodi threw us a lovely welcome party and invited their friends and family to come meet us and hang out. It was such a nice gesture and we had a lot of fun. Jodi made a ton of wonderful food while their neighbor, Winston, demonstrated his magic touch at the barbeque. Everything was soooo good. My diet is definitely blown!
Here is Grace and Lily hanging out Sunday morning before the party. Grace and Lily instantly developed a special bond and Grace was so sweet and good with her:
